Our biggest piece of advice for the Thanksgiving holiday is to focus on the spaces of your home that are most important to your family, as well as the places where you expect to be spending the most time on the holiday. Start decorating by styling those spaces, and create a cozy space that your family will love for years to come.

 

Add fall colors to your space

One of the most beautiful things about fall that we all know and love are the rich fall colors of changing leaves, so why not bring those colors into your home? Deep burgundies, rust oranges, luscious plums, and mustardy yellows create a warm and inviting atmosphere. One of our favorite ways to add these colors into a space is through antique glass jars or ceramic pieces. Set the table!

The best part of Thanksgiving – home cooked food, shouldn’t be forgotten! The dinner table is one of, if not the most, important part of the Thanksgiving holiday, and you’ll want to start setting the table by pulling out your best fall dishes. When it comes to the fall season, we tend to gravitate toward neutral ceramic dishes, and you’re in luck! These dishes are part of our fall collection and are the perfect choice for your table.

Once you’ve picked out your dishes and silverware, it’s time to pick linens. Whether you’re opting for a table cloth, runner, or placemats and napkins, The Rustic Barn has plenty of choices for you. It’s important to pick out a placemat that compliments your tablecloth and dishes of your choice. For the napkins, you’ll want to choose a color that compliments your space (Pro Tip: it’s easiest to style solid colors!) As for the table runner, a good rule of thumb is to pick one that is one-third the width of your table, so get out the ruler and get shopping! We recommend picking one that ties in fall colors, as well as the colors of your space, and when in doubt – pick one that’s neutral, but still just as stunning.

Create a lovely centerpiece

Your centerpiece should be the focal point of your dinner table, so choose wisely! Popular choices include fall florals, candlesticks, or pumpkins, but one of our biggest tips for your centerpiece is to keep it short. You want to be sure everyone can see each other across the table, especially during a holiday created for gathering and celebration.

  

 

Fall garlands are a great way to create visual interest without sacrificing beauty. Speaking of pumpkins… Thanksgiving simply isn’t complete without pumpkins and squash galore! Hit up your local market to pick out some seasonal vegetables for decorating (and cooking while you’re at it.) Pumpkins, gourds, and squash can be added as accent decorations on shelving, in baskets, or on tables as centerpieces, just let your creativity guide you!

 

Make your home even cozier
